Floor Color Center had its beginnings in 1983 when Patrick Marlowe left his job as an operations manager with Burdines to open a measuring service company. The company measured flooring for stores like Burdines (Macys), JC Penney, as well as many smaller local stores. The company quickly expanded into independent inspections for the major manufacturers and distributors. The company again expanded in 1997 with the addition of an installation service and in 1999 bought a small retail store located in Oakhurst Plaza. This expanded quickly and found a new location on Walsingham Road and a new name “Floor Color Center”. A couple of years later another store on Seminole Blvd was added. In late 2006 with a housing crunch starting to affect business a decision was made to close the Walsingham store. This created a more efficient operation allowing us to serve our customer with the highest standards and fairest prices. With a larger store on Seminole Blvd. already in place this assured the financial stability of the company when many others in the industry were struggling.
That’s how we got here but let me explain the company philosophy. It’s a simple concept based on integrity, honesty and fairness. We have found that you must start all flooring or other home improvements with the end result in mind. If we focus on the real function of our business, which is to make your home or office beautiful, the rest falls into place. And we don’t just focus on it being beautiful the day it’s completed, but on years of beautiful performance based on the customers needs. These needs are different for every customer. Some need extremely high performance and low maintenance (think soccer mom) while some need economy (think business back office operation) and others want the high fashion look for their mini-mansion. We have found if you find the right product, install it correctly and stand behind your work you will never have an unhappy customer. People are generally happy when the product and service meets or exceeds their expectations. We have thousands of happy customers in Seminole and Largo as well as the rest of the bay area.
